Your Vision

Picture your life a year from now: the work, the way you live, what you want to be true. Your Vision turns that picture into goals and something you will do each week, and then asks the same question 5, 10 and 20 years out.

What it asks

Picture a year ahead, and leave with your goals and what you will do each week.

  • How much your career should change, from keep it as it is to a complete pivot
  • The same for how you live, and what you like about both now
  • What you want to be true by that year
  • Which goals to start now, and a weekly practice for each one

Four horizons, one question

The 1-Year Vision comes first, because next year is close enough to plan for honestly. It is where your first goals come from, and the 5, 10 and 20-Year Visions open once it is done.

The longer horizons ask the same questions with a different year in them, and the answers change in a useful way. Five years is long enough for a different job. Ten is long enough for a different life. Twenty is mostly about who you want to be, which tends to make the one-year goals easier to choose.

Working backward from a picture also produces goals a list would not. People describe where they live, who they see on a Tuesday and what they no longer do, and the goals that come out of that are usually better than the ones they would have written cold.

How Crystal asks it

Inside the product.

  • Free to take at every horizon, AI help included. Answer the questions, or ask your own AI for a draft and paste it back.
  • Crystal drafts a vision from your answers for you to edit, and up to three goals can start now.
  • Each vision is kept, so a later one never overwrites the last, and the quarterly check-in asks whether it is still where you are headed.
